Job summary

Aether Aerospace is seeking a Senior Modeling & Simulation Engineer to lead Modern Air Combat Environment (MACE) scenario development, model configuration, and simulation execution for an operations analysis study. The role supports a commercial aerospace and defense customer in the Tidewater/Newport News area, requiring active security clearance and hands-on modeling expertise.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance required.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
• Hands-on experience developing, configuring, executing, and troubleshooting MACE scenarios.
• Experience leading technical modeling work for a simulation-based study.
• Knowledge of military mission modeling, platforms, sensors, threats, and interactions.
• Experience verifying simulation behavior and maintaining execution records.
• Ability to configure output collection and provide documented results to analysts.
• Strong technical writing, briefing, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to meet access and data-handling requirements for assigned work.

Responsibilities

• Lead MACE scenario development, model configuration, and simulation execution.
• Translate approved vignettes into executable scenarios with defined conditions.
• Establish a common baseline and controlled comparison cases.
• Configure platform, sensor, threat, weapon, and EW representations.
• Assess model limitations and data gaps.
• Develop verification checks for initialization, behavior, sequencing, and outputs.
• Run repeated and sensitivity cases with consistent configurations.
• Configure logging and outputs for study analysts.
• Maintain configuration identifiers and data traceability.
• Investigate failed runs and preserve reproducibility.
• Provide complete simulation outputs to analysts for data reduction.
• Support analysts by explaining model behavior and limitations.
• Contribute modeling content to study plans and reports.
• Coordinate issues with vendors and other experts.
