Job summary

United Vein & Vascular Centers (UVVC) invites a Lead Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our growing New York market. This traveling lead role ensures LPNs provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while upholding standardized workflows and regulatory compliance.

You will mentor, onboard, and assess competency, while collaborating with physicians and program managers to drive improvements. Expect travel across markets and a total compensation package commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted LPN license in state of practice.
• Minimum of two years of clinical experience in ambulatory care, vascular, surgical, or physician practice settings.
• Mastery of infection prevention, sterile technique, medication safety, documentation, inventory, and patient safety.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills and experience with electronic medical records.
• Proficient in medical terminology.
• Dependable with reliable attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Act as the subject matter expert for LPN practice within the assigned market.
• Oversee clinical practice, competency, and professional development of LPNs.
• Oversee onboarding, competency assessment, orientation, and annual validation for LPNs.
• Mentor, coach, and provide clinical resources for LPNs.
• Provide final competency sign-off for newly hired LPNs.
• Collaborate with Clinical Program Managers to identify educational opportunities and support performance improvement.
• Review BI dashboards to monitor trends and implement data-driven action plans.
• Manage medication handling, administration, and safety.
• Ensure nursing documentation standards and provide coaching as needed.
• Ensure infection prevention, sterile technique, and patient safety compliance.
• Assist with investigations of nursing-related safety events and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with physicians and other leaders to deliver safe nursing care.
• Complete peer chart audits and review documentation quality for compliance.
• Identify opportunities for Quality Improvement initiatives and risk mitigation.
• Travel throughout the assigned market and fill in as LPN during staffing shortages.

Our New York Market is expected to launch Early 2027 and this role will require travel out of state for up to 4 weeks in one of our existing markets.

This is a traveling lead role to support clinics in the new local market.

About the Role

The Lead Licensed Practical Nurse (Lead LPN) is responsible for the competency, quality, and appropriateness of nursing services provided by Licensed Practical Nurses within an assigned market. The Lead LPN ensures LPNs consistently deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting standardized clinical workflows, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. The Lead LPN serves as the clinical subject matter expert for Licensed Practical Nurses and provides oversight of onboarding, competency assessment, coaching, and ongoing professional development. The Lead LPN must demonstrate advanced proficiency in all roles and responsibilities of a Licensed Practical Nurse I and serve as a role model for clinical excellence, teamwork, and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the subject matter expert for Licensed Practical Nurse practice within the assigned market.
• Oversees the clinical practice, competency, and professional development of Licensed Practical Nurses.
• Provides oversight of onboarding, competency assessment, orientation, and annual competency validation of Licensed Practical Nurses.
• Serves as mentor, coach, and clinical resource for Licensed Practical Nurses.
• Provides final competency sign-off for newly hired Licensed Practical Nurses.
• Partners with Clinical Program Managers to identify educational opportunities and support performance improvement.
• Reviews Business Intelligence (BI) dashboards, or other sources of data, with the Clinical Program Manager to identify trends, monitor performance, and implement data-driven action plans within their assigned area of responsibility.
• Serves as the nursing resource for medication management, medication preparation, medication administration, and medication safety.
• Monitors adherence to nursing documentation standards and provides coaching as needed.
• Oversees compliance with infection prevention, sterile technique, medication handling, and nursing practice standards.
• Assists with investigation and follow-up of nursing-related patient safety events and participates in corrective action planning when appropriate.
• Collaborates with physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Facility Administrators, and Clinical Program Managers to ensure safe and efficient delivery of nursing care.
• Completes assigned peer chart audits.
• Reviews documentation quality and provides coaching to improve clinical documentation and compliance.
• Seeks opportunities for continuous improvement and collaborates on Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives.
• Proactively identifies clinical, operational, and patient safety risks.
• Collaborates with Supply to ensure medications and supplies are available.
• Oversees completion of inventory activities.
• Assists with interviews.
• Participates in employee feedback sessions and annual performance reviews with the Facility Administrator and Clinical Program Manager.
• Travels throughout the assigned market.
• Fills in as an LPN during staffing shortages.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program.

• Current unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in ambulatory care, vascular, surgical, procedural, or physician practice setting, including at least six months as a UVVC Licensed Practical Nurse I (or equivalent experience).
• Demonstrated mastery of standard operating procedures related to infection prevention, sterile technique, medication safety, clinical documentation, inventory management, and patient safety.
• Previous experience serving as a clinical lead, charge nurse, preceptor, or mentor preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider through American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within 60 days.

Total compensation is based on experience and may include base salary, bonuses, and other incentive pay.
