Job summary

Mercy is seeking an LPN in Guthrie, OK, to serve as a lead in the department, utilizing the nursing process to provide patient care under physician or NP supervision. The role includes refilling medications and assisting with treatments, coordinating care with other departments, and ensuring patient rights and confidentiality.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, and graduation from an accredited practical nursing program with an active LPN license in the hiring state.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Licensure: Must have and maintain LPN license in the hiring state.
• Certifications: ACLS/ALS, PALS, PEARS, STABLE, BLS, IV Certification, and other unit-specific certifications as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care using the nursing process under the supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner licensed by the State to refill medication and assist with treatment.
• Coordinate patient care, testing, and procedures in conjunction with other departments.
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.
• Lead role within the department working with the practice manager.

Maintains professional accountability for provision during clinic appointments and patient phone calls. Coordinates the patient care/testing/procedures in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.

Position Details:

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Licensure: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure. Is personally responsible for obtaining and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements.

NOTE: One or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe:

• ACLS/ALS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
• S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
• IV Certification within 1 year of hire.
• Other unit-specific certifications as required.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
