Job summary

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is seeking an Engineering Manager, Linux Platform Security in New York City. This full-time role oversees global platform security within Information Security, combining management and hands-on security work in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes leading security improvements across Linux environments, collaborating with infrastructure teams, and guiding security projects from conception to implementation.

Qualifications

• 12 to 15 years of hands-on experience driving security projects in Linux environments.
• Deep knowledge of Linux concepts: LSM, SELinux, AppArmor, authentication methods, cryptography, certificates, and network protocols.
• Proficiency in Unix shell scripting and basic Python development; degree in CS or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and guide a team responsible for advancing security of OS and infrastructure, with a focus on Linux environments.
• Identify weaknesses, allocate resources, and ensure security improvements are integrated across the environment.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to drive projects like sandboxing AI agents, MFA for privileged workflows, and modernizing authentication stacks (OIDC, MTLS, Kerberos).
• Drive hands-on technical project work, ensuring changes are designed, shipped, and adopted across the firm.
