Job summary

Silicon Valley Lights seeks a Lead Lighting Technician to head outdoor installation crews across the San Francisco Bay Area, from site assessment to final walkthrough. You will review plans, assign tasks, ensure safety, diagnose electrical issues, and demonstrate systems to customers.

Requires 2–3 years in related trades and at least 1 year leading a crew; valid CA license and outside-work readiness. This full-time role offers hands-on leadership, ongoing training, and the chance to work on

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in roofing, construction, lighting, solar, low-voltage electrical or related trades
• 1 year of experience leading a crew
• Able to diagnose and repair electrical issues
• Able to communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders
• Operate boom lifts, scissor lifts and other equipment after training
• Valid California driver's license and access to personal vehicle
• Comfortable working outdoors, on ladders and rooflines
• Available to work evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

As a Lead Lighting Technician, your responsibilities will include:

• Leading installation crews on permanent, holiday, and event jobs from layout through final walkthrough
• Reviewing job plans and site conditions, and assigning tasks across the crew
• Checking crew work for quality, safety, and consistency before sign-off
• Diagnosing and resolving complex electrical and controller issues
• Serving as the on-site point of contact for customers, including final walkthroughs and system demonstrations
• Training and mentoring Technician I and II crew members
• Running pre-job safety briefings and making sure crews follow safety practices
• Planning post-holiday takedowns, including labeling and storage for reinstallation

Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this position, you’ll need to:

• Have at least 2-3 years of experience in roofing, construction, lighting, solar, low-voltage electrical, or another hands-on trade
• Have at least 1 year of experience leading a crew
• Efficiently diagnose and repair electrical issues
