Qualifications

• Must have American Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
• Lifeguard Management certification within nine months of hire.
• Lifeguard Instructor certification within nine months of hire.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification to include AED.
• Oxygen Administration certification.
• Bloodborne Pathogens certification within 90 days of hire.
• Meet health and safety regulations as defined by Health Department and Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

• Supervise aquatic staff, including instructors and lifeguards as assigned.
• Hands-on lifeguarding and assisting other aquatic instructional programs as assigned.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the aquatics programs and facilities, including special events as directed by the Athletic Coordinator.
• Enforce Red Shield rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors and employees.
• Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning; provide first aid and CPR as needed.
• Develop and implement Lifeguard Instructor program and assist in training staff for Instructor-level Certifications.
• Maintain and review records and reports as assigned.
• Inspect and supervise staff cleaning and maintenance of swimming pool areas and related facilities.
