Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation in Charlotte is seeking a Full Time Lead Lifeguard for the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center. You will plan, organize, supervise aquatic activities, enforce safety rules, and orient/train lifeguards.
The role involves assisting with large-scale aquatic events such as swim meets and dive meets, overseeing pool operations, and supporting maintenance. The position requires evenings, weekend, and holiday availability.
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to welcome a Full Time Lead Lifeguard to the team at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center. This position will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing aquatic activities, ensuring the safest environment for patrons, and enforcing facility safety regulations. In addition, this position will orient new lifeguards and provide trainings to their lifeguard team. The selected candidate will also be responsible for assisting with large-scale aquatic event operations, such as swim meets, dive meets and other aquatic events. The incumbent can also expect to assist with overall pool operations and maintenance. The preferred candidate will have a passion for aquatics and exhibit strong interpersonal skills with diverse populations. This full-time position will work on a varying schedule that may include evenings, rotating weekends, and holidays based on business/facility needs.
The Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center is a world-class natatorium located in uptown Charlotte. The facility includes a 50-meter competition pool for competitive and independent swimming, a 25-yard therapeutic pool, fitness center and hot tub. Swim lessons are also offered at the center year-round. We proudly host 60-70 aquatic events each year, which attract about 800-1200 visitors per event.

Must have lifeguard experience.
Must be at least 17 years old and possess at least an eighth (8th) grade education; hold and maintain all required certifications
Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: N/A
Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License and County Driving Privileges; Lifeguard certification, CPR certification, First Aid certification
Basic knowledge in various applicable computer programs
Works indoors with loud noises.
