StandardAero in Augusta, GA is seeking a Lead Mechanic to supervise a crew performing Bombardier Challenger maintenance. The role includes covering Crew Chief duties, mentoring staff, scheduling, and ensuring workmanship meets quality standards.

The candidate should have 5+ years as a licensed A&P Mechanic, plus 2+ years in Challenger heavy maintenance, with proven leadership in an MRO environment and the right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed A&P Mechanic.
• Minimum 2 years performing heavy maintenance on Bombardier Challenger aircraft.
• Demonstrated leadership and/or supervisory experience in an MRO environment.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a crew to ensure high performance and safety.
• Monitor hours charged to jobs to control costs and approve technicians’ time.
• Appraise crew members and recommend salary and status changes.
• Pre-plan work scope and action plans for incoming jobs, including parts ordering.
• Deploy resources and assign tasks to crew members efficiently.
• Use hand tools, precision measuring instruments, gauges, and engine calibration test equipment.
• Submit and review all job order paperwork for quality assurance.
• Monitor progressive sign-offs to ensure tasks are completed satisfactorily.
• Serve as a technical expert on assigned fleet types and perform hands-on maintenance as needed.

Working in our Augusta, GA Business Aviation MRO, this Lead Mechanic will serve on a team dedicated to Bombardier Challenger maintenance. This Team Lead will be responsible for covering the duties of the Crew Chief in their absence, as well as mentoring, scheduling, and developing a team of technicians and mechanics.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and supervise a crew to ensure high performance and adherence to safety standards.
• Monitor hours charged to jobs to assure cost control and approve technicians’ time on tasks.
• Appraise crew members and recommend salary and status changes, recognizing achievements and administering discipline when necessary.
• Pre-plan work scope and action plans for incoming jobs, including ordering parts as needed.
• Deploy resources and assign tasks to crew members efficiently.
• Use hand tools, precision measuring instruments, gauges, and engine calibration test equipment.
• Implement all paperwork related to job orders and conduct a final review of work order documentation before submitting for quality assurance.
• Monitor progressive sign-offs to ensure all tasks are completed satisfactorily.
• Serve as a technical expert on assigned fleet types, performing hands-on maintenance as necessary.

Position Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed A&P Mechanic.
• Minimum 2 years of experience performing heavy maintenance on Bombardier Challenger aircraft.
• Demonstrated leadership and/or supervisory experience in an MRO environment.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Characteristics

• 10+ years of experience as an A&P Mechanic.
• Experience performing heavy maintenance on Challenger 300/350/600/604/605/650.
• Proven ability to interact with and resolve customer concerns.
• Experience in heavy and light maintenance, service bulletins, and troubleshooting.
• Strong team-building, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
