Job summary

The City of Garland is seeking a Grounds Attendant Supervisor for the Hinton Landfill to direct the grounds crew and temp workers in maintenance and litter removal around the site. You will oversee daily assignments, ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and perform routine equipment operation and basic maintenance to keep facilities and grounds in good condition.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience working in a landfill setting.
Familiarity with landfill compliance regulations.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

Lead Grounds Attendant and Temp crew at the Landfill in litter collection in compliance with regulations.
Provide daily assignments and adjust tasks as needed throughout the day.
Follow guidelines for recordkeeping of litter control activities as required by the Site Operating Plan.
Collect and dispose of litter and debris from rights of way, grounds, roadsides, slopes and fence areas.
Operate line trimmer, riding lawnmower, and other small equipment.
Perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment as needed.
General housekeeping in shop and repair facilities.
Operate a city vehicle to assist in routine maintenance.
Assist with traffic control and truck spotter duties as backup to operations.
Other duties as assigned.
