Job summary

HR Green, Inc. is seeking a Project Land Surveyor I/II in Illinois to support and lead land surveying efforts across field and office environments, from research through final deliverables.

You will work with project managers, engineers, clients, and contractors to ensure accuracy, quality, and alignment, while taking on leadership responsibilities and mentoring junior staff on a range of development, roadway, and municipal infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of progressive experience in land surveying.
• Professional Land Surveyor license or ability to obtain within six months.
• Experience with AutoCAD and other surveying software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and legal descriptions.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support land surveying efforts across field and office.
• Research public records related to land surveys.
• Perform field surveys for boundary, topographic, and construction projects.
• Prepare easement descriptions, plats, and legal descriptions.
• Generate survey plats and support subdivision platting.
• Ensure quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain detailed field notes, data files, and project documentation.
• Lead survey crews and coordinate with office staff.
• Manage project scope, schedule, and budget while coordinating with clients.
• Identify and address technical, schedule, or financial challenges proactively.
• Contribute to proposals by estimating time and cost for survey services.
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior team members.
