Key Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate complex lactation interventions for the mother-baby dyad; provide direct nursing care as an RN when clinically required.

Educational Leadership: Design, implement, and evaluate lactation orientation and ongoing in-service training programs for nursing and physician staff to ensure clinical competency.

Community Outreach: Facilitate prenatal education classes and manage outpatient lactation resources to support families post-discharge.

Baby-Friendly Alignment: Lead data collection, staff auditing, and compliance tracking to sustain the hospital's Baby-Friendly Initiative designation.

Specialized Program Management: Oversee the operational workflows, documentation, and safety of the Human Donor Milk program and the facility’s pump rental program.

Consultative Resource: Serve as the subject matter expert on complex lactation issues for hospital staff, physicians, and patients across the organization.

Quality & Compliance: Lead departmental Performance Improvement (PI) initiatives and maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety, and hospital care standards.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

Licensure: Current New York State Registered Nurse License/Registration.

Acuity Insight: Comprehensive knowledge of current nursing, lactation, medical, and health trends affecting postpartum and neonatal populations.

Desired Qualifications

Leadership History: Prior experience leading clinical committees, driving quality benchmarks (like Baby-Friendly standards), or managing specialized clinical programs.

Communication Mastery: Exceptional interpersonal skills tailored for cross-departmental collaboration, physician engagement, and public classroom instruction.
