Job summary

Dallas County seeks a lead Juvenile Residential Officer to supervise youths in a 24-hour residential facility and help develop and evaluate residential programs.

Responsibilities include daily supervision, crisis intervention, counseling, staff training, transport, and enforcing rules to maintain safety and welfare; a high school diploma and 2 years of related experience are required, with a Texas driver’s license and First Aid/CPR certification preferred or required within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Education, Experience and Training: Graduation from an accredited high school/GED program. Two (2) years of work related experience.
• Must have current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification or obtain within 90 days of hire. Must maintain 40 hours of training yearly.
• Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license, with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct day-to-day supervision to youths in a 24-hour residential facility in a manner that ensures health, safety and welfare of each youth.
• Functions as a lead juvenile residential officer and assumes divisional responsibility in the absence of the shift supervisor.
• Provides individual and group counseling to all youths to promote and increase personal awareness of responsibilities and alternatives.
• Provides crisis intervention counseling and notifies the supervisor of concerns.
