Job summary

Hope Community Resources, Inc. in Anchorage, Alaska, invites applications for a Lead Intensive Supports Associate to lead an Assisted Living Home and supervise direct support staff, ensuring safety and adherence to care plans.

The role requires a 4-year degree or equivalent, at least four years of direct support experience with supervisory responsibility, and a valid Alaska driver's license. Flexible schedules and full-time benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required. Equivalent combination of related education and/or work experience.
  • Four years of experience providing direct support services required; one year of which involves supervisory experience required.
  • Associate’s degree in Human Services, Health or Social Science, Special Education or other related field preferred. Emphasis of study in developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling shifts in the home providing overall management of the assigned home.
  • Ensuring the health and safety of the support recipients and takes appropriate steps, utilizing agency or treatment directed supports and trainings to deescalate individuals who may become physically or verbally aggressive.
  • Providing continual heightened vigilance in supervision and monitoring required for the safety of the support recipient and/or others while teaching activities of daily living, as well as social and communication skills to foster independence.
  • Facilitating communication amongst all members of the support recipient’s team.
  • Lead and supervise a team of direct support employees who work in the home, ensuring the implementation of the Plan of Care and/or support plan, Behavior Support Plans, Individualized Interaction Guidelines, Emergency Response Plans, and prescribed mental health coping strategies or treatment interventions, as applicable.

We’re looking for a Behavioral Support Professional (also known as an Lead Intensive Support Associate) to join our team in Anchorage, Alaska.

Hope Community Resources, Inc. is a non-profit disabilities service provider based in Anchorage, Alaska. Founded in 1968, our company provides services and supports to people of all ages and abilities who experience an intellectual, developmental, or other disability, traumatic brain injury, or mental health challenge.

The Lead Intensive Supports Associate (LISA)

provides services to Hope support recipients through their leadership of an Assisted Living Home whose support recipients have challenging behaviors and intensive support needs. To thrive in this role, the right candidate understands the serious nature of a person’s history while supporting them to live a meaningful life of dignity.

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED required. Equivalent combination of related education and/or work experience.
  • Four years of experience providing direct support services required; one year of which involves supervisory experience required.
  • Associate’s degree in Human Services, Health or Social Science, Special Education or other related field preferred. Emphasis of study in developmental disabilities preferred.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Meets State and Agency requirements for the Administrator of an Assisted Living Home.
  • Possesses a valid Alaska Driver’s license and has at least one year of driving experience (may include permit time). Obtains a driving record at time of employment, annually thereafter, and as requested by management.
  • Ability to safely operate Agency vehicles when needed. Possesses reliable transportation and vehicle insurance when transporting support recipients or conducting Agency business.
  • Meets State and Agency requirements for passing a criminal background check upon hire and as required thereafter.
  • Lifts 35 pounds from a squat and kneel position on the floor.
  • May be required to frequently walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, pull and/or push.
  • Completes all required State, Agency, Department and position specific training as assigned.
  • Obtains a tuberculin clearance at time of employment and annually thereafter.
