Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Lead Integration Engineer in the United States (Omaha, NE) to provide technical leadership for enterprise integration design, implementation, and governance across applications, platforms, data systems, and external partners.

You will define reusable patterns, ensure security and operational excellence, and mentor engineers while collaborating with architecture, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable integration solutions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years practical web & application development experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise integration solutions across multiple systems and domains.
  • Knowledge of integration architecture patterns including API-based, event-driven, messaging, orchestration, and data exchange approaches.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automation, automated testing, monitoring, and observability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise integration solutions across internal systems, cloud platforms, third-party applications, and external partners.
  • Define and promote integration architecture standards, best practices, and reusable design patterns that improve consistency, scalability, maintainability, and supportability.
  • Evaluate requirements and recommend integration approaches aligned with security and operational objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership and design oversight for complex integration initiatives through full lifecycle.
  • Establish and maintain standards for governance, documentation, lifecycle management, monitoring, and readiness.
  • Ensure integration solutions comply with security, privacy, risk, and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with enterprise architecture, security, infrastructure, data, and application teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement of integration practices including monitoring and incident response.
  • Conduct architecture, solution, and code reviews for quality and standards alignment.
  • Develop reusable integration frameworks, templates, and components to reduce duplication.
  • Promote adoption of enterprise integration standards across technology teams.
  • Mentor engineers and provide guidance on integration design and practices.
  • Advance enterprise integration strategy and implementation practices.

The Lead Integration Engineer provides technical leadership for the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise integration solutions that enable secure, reliable, and scalable connectivity across business applications, platforms, data systems, and external partners.

This role is responsible for establishing integration standards, promoting reusable solution patterns, and ensuring integration services are designed for performance, maintainability, security, and operational excellence. The Lead Integration Engineer collaborates closely with application, architecture, security, infrastructure, and business teams to deliver solutions that support organizational objectives and technology strategy.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise integration solutions across internal systems, cloud platforms, third-party applications, and external partners.
  • Define and promote integration architecture standards, best practices, and reusable design patterns that improve consistency, scalability, maintainability, and supportability.
  • Evaluate business and technical requirements and recommend integration approaches that align with organizational standards, security requirements, and operational objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership and design oversight for complex integration initiatives throughout the solution lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Establish and maintain standards for integration governance, documentation, lifecycle management, monitoring, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure integration solutions are designed and implemented in accordance with enterprise security, privacy, risk, and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with enterprise architecture, security, infrastructure, data, and application teams to establish secure, reliable, and supportable integration capabilities.
  • Drive continuous improvement of integration practices, including monitoring, observability, incident response, troubleshooting, and operational support processes.
  • Conduct architecture, solution, and code reviews to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and quality expectations.
  • Develop reusable integration frameworks, templates, and shared components that reduce duplication and accelerate delivery.
  • Promote adoption of enterprise integration standards and best practices across technology teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on integration architecture, engineering practices, and solution design.
  • Serve as a key technical leader responsible for advancing enterprise integration strategy, standards, and implementation practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience serving in a technical leadership, lead engineer, or senior engineering capacity.
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise integration solutions across multiple systems, applications, platforms, and business domains.
  • Knowledge of enterprise integration architecture patterns, including API-based, event-driven, messaging, orchestration, and data exchange approaches.
  • Experience with application integration, middleware, API management, service bus technologies, or related integration platforms.
  • Experience designing solutions that emphasize reliability, scalability, resiliency, security, and operational supportability.
  • Experience with systems interoperability, data transformation, interface design, and integration troubleshooting.Understanding of security concepts including authentication, authorization, encryption, secrets management, and data protection.
  • Experience participating in architecture reviews, technical standards development, or design governance processes.
  • Experience leading integration strategy, engineering standards, or enterprise integration practices across a large or complex organization.
  • Experience supporting integrations involving enterprise applications, SaaS platforms, data platforms, and external business partners.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automation, automated testing, monitoring, observability, and operational support practices.
