Job summary

Firefly Aerospace is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer III for Ground Systems to serve as the technical authority across control systems that monitor rocket engines, manage cryogenic propellants, and support fast-paced test campaigns.

You'll architect end-to-end control solutions, lead small engineering teams, develop roadmaps and standards, and collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure safety, reliability, and performance across launch and ground support

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for instrumentation and controls across Firefly
• Lead small technical teams of 1–2 engineers on specific projects
• Create and maintain procedures and standards for design, fabrication, and activation of control systems
• Drive innovation in control system methodologies and tools
• Develop long-term technical roadmaps for I&C capabilities
• Architect control system solutions for novel applications
• Provide technical authority and final design approval for critical control systems
• Lead technical reviews and represent Firefly I&C capabilities
• Participate in proposal development and provide technical input for new opportunities
• Interface with customers to resolve technical challenges and support cost estimation
• Develop control logic for PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMIs
• Develop automated sequencing for propellant loading and engine testing
• Implement motion control systems for valves and actuators
• Develop SCADA systems for monitoring distributed ground equipment
• Specify sensors and instrumentation and experience with data acquisition systems
