Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a seasoned Project Field Engineer to lead field engineering teams on LNG/energy projects in the US Gulf Coast region. You will manage planning, material control, quantity validation, and system turnover while ensuring safety and quality compliance.

The role requires strong leadership, deep electrical discipline knowledge, and collaboration with design and startup teams across multiple sites. Mobility may be needed in future deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years or 14-17 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in electrical/design inspections and high voltage systems.
• Commitment to ES&H and Zero Accident safety principles.
• Proficient with MS Office; familiar with BSAPs, TeamWorks and SetRoute.

Project Overview

The selected candidate will initially be placed on one of our four Liquefied Natural Gas Plant Projects in the US Gulf Coast Region for our Energy Global Business Unit, but we may also require the selected candidate to have future mobility to one of our other Global Business Units in a different location. The ideal candidate will have market sector/ sub sector construction industry experience in energy (liquefied natural gas), manufacturing and technology (semiconductor, chemical, pharmaceutical, data centers, fire power generation),infrastructure (aviation, rail, roads/bridges), mining and minerals (water treatment plant, mineral extraction, metal refining), & nuclear, security, and environmental (nuclear power epc, power distribution, combined cycle, defense and space, environmental cleanup). As needs arise in our growing business, there will be expectation for the candidate to be fully mobile.

Job Summary

In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities

• On a medium to large (PFE Tier I - <$250m) job, performs the duties of a lead engineer in either an area, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines, or as a Project Field Engineer, coordinating all activities related to the operation of assigned operating section.

Leadership/Supervision

• Proactively engages with their teams' development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback
• Leads construction engineers in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.

Work Planning & Packaging

• Coordinates with design on constructability issues.

Material Management

• Reviews material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials.

Quantities

• Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.

Safety / Quality Control

• Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.

System Turnover Coordinator

For Direct Hire:

• Possesses responsibility for coordinating between Construction and Startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the Startup Specialist as required to support component/system turnover and assuming responsibility (as required) for area turnover coordination as determined by the PFE.

STR / Subcontract Coordinator

• Reviews and approves inspection test plans,
• Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals

Education and Experience Requirements

• Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Experience in construction and technical inspection of electrical/design in areas such as installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting systems, high voltage equipment, classified area rated equipment, grounding, DCS systems and cable pulling activities.
• Experience with installing gas insulated switchgear (medium and high voltage) Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H).
• Demonstrated commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
• Must be computer-literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
• Must be familiar with current industry quality standards.
• Basic ability to utilize the TeamWorks suite and SetRoute application as the Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
• Basic knowledge of Project Technical Requests (PTR) for routing and resolving Requests for Information (RFIs), Field Change Documents (FCDs), and Non Conformance/Compliance Reports (NCRs) between project sites, contractors, clients, and home office.
• Basic knowledge of work packaging and basic ability to manipulate completions module and PunchWorks for interface with the start-up team.
• Familiarity with STCP's and CSU work processes. Intermediate understanding of production management including scheduling.
• Intermediate communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Intermediate knowledge of cost management including estimating and forecast development.
• Previous supervisory experience within electrical discipline.

Additional Information

Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to:extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces.Some lifting may be required.Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
