Job summary

Cox Enterprises in Riverside, CA is seeking an experienced Vehicle Inspector to verify information on work orders by inspecting customer vehicles upon receipt, noting damage, missing parts, and mechanical issues across interior, exterior, and components.

The role requires adherence to policies, preparation of documentation, day-end procedures, and maintaining knowledge of relevant software and testing methods.

Qualifications

• Must have HS Diploma/GED with 7 years of related experience.
• Or 5 years with a related degree/certification.
• Or 9 years in a related field.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to multitask and be detail oriented.
• Regularly stand, walk, reach, talk and hear; may stoop, kneel, crouch and climb.

Responsibilities

• Verify vehicle information based on work order information – identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all customer vehicles at time of receipt (i.e., interior, exterior, odometer reading, trunk area, engine compartment).
• Prepare and complete all necessary documentation.
• Set up system for day-end; perform day-end procedures.
• Maintain knowledge to ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
• Write electronic condition reports (ECR).
• Conduct OVE courtesy walk around inspections.
• Maintain knowledge of system capabilities and job-relevant software packages.
• Maintain knowledge on improvements and changes concerning body mechanical, frame labor, inspection techniques, etc.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in safety activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.

Job Responsibilities:

• Verify vehicle information based on work order information – identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all customer vehicles at time of receipt (i.e., interior, exterior, odometer reading, trunk area, engine compartment), noting any damage or repair to frame/paint, engine noise, AC/heater operation, radio, tire condition, etc.
• Prepare and complete all necessary documentation.
• Set up system for day-end; perform day-end procedures.
• Maintain knowledge to ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
• Write electronic condition reports (ECR).
• Conduct OVE courtesy walk around inspections.
• Maintain knowledge of system capabilities, knowledge of needed/job-relevant software packages, and web-based applications.
• Maintain a working knowledge on improvements and changes concerning body mechanical, frame labor, inspection techniques, etc.
• Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

• High School Diploma/GED and 7 years’ experience.
• OR the right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 5 years’ experience.
• OR 9 years’ experience in a related field
• Safe driver's needed; valid driver’s license required.
• Basic computer software skills required.
• Ability to multitask required.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch and climb.
• Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception.

Preferred:

• ASE certification or background in automotive repair, and cost estimating.
• Knowledge ICAR Certifications preferred.
• General knowledge of automotive body and mechanical work preferred.
• Previous body shop experience, mechanical experience, estimating experience a plus.
