Alexandria Area YMCA is seeking an Infant Lead Teacher to lead our infant classroom at the Vivie location, providing nurturing care during crucial developmental stages.

Responsibilities include creating age-appropriate lesson plans, daily schedules, supervision, progress updates to parents, and collaboration with staff. Requires post-secondary education, DHS Rule 3 qualification, CPR/First Aid, and background check; benefits include medical, PTO, retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Must meet DHS Rule 3 Teacher qualifications.
• Post-secondary education and formal child care experience required.
• Background study must be non-disqualified.
• Certified in CPR and First Aid or obtain within 90 days of employment.
• CACFP food program training and YMCA 101 within 90 days of employment.

Do you have a passion for caring for infants and creating a warm, nurturing environment where they can thrive? The Alexandria Area YMCA is looking for a compassionate, energetic Infant Lead Teacher to lead our infant classroom at our Vivie location and provide exceptional care during a child's most important developmental stages.

Essential Functions

• Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
• Develop and implement a daily schedule that includes feeding, napping, playtime, and structured activities.
• Provide constant supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of children in your care.
• Evaluates and maintains records on all children's progress
• Maintain open and positive communication with parents/guardians, including daily updates.
• Work collaboratively and supervise assistant teachers, aides, and other staff members to ensure a smooth operation of the program.

Pay

$19.00 - $22.00 per hour

Hours

Monday - Friday, 7:30a - 4:30p

Requirements

• Be committed to the mission and goals of the YMCA and Child Care Center.
• Must meet DHS Rule 3 Teacher qualifications.
• Post-secondary education and formal child care experience is required. Credits and hours required vary based on area of study and degree (if any) earned.
• Three or more years of experience in the early childhood arena is preferred but not required.
• Must complete and have a non-disqualified background study record.
• Must be certified in CPR and First Aid or obtain within the first 90 days of employment.
• Proof of completion of SIDS, Abusive Head Trauma, Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting before interaction with children.
• Must take CACFP food program training and YMCA 101 within the first 90 days of employment.

Physical Demands

• Must be in good physical, mental, and emotional health and may be required to lift children and light equipment (5-50lb).
• Must be in constant awareness of the children's safety, ensuring that activities follow rules and regulations which limit risk to the participants.
• Required to speak and hear.
• Required to reach with and use hands and arms.
• Must be able to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must dress appropriately for the weather as both indoor and outdoor activities are scheduled.
