The Foth Companies, a long‑standing science and engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Lead Hydrogeologist in Minnesota. The role focuses on technical leadership of hydrogeological projects, overseeing field programs, and coordinating with project managers to shape budgets and project approaches.

You will design and implement numerical analyses for groundwater and surface water systems, support permitting and remediation efforts, and mentor other team members while contributing to client

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 10 years of hydrogeological investigations experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on field work.
• Experience coordinating field programs (aquifer testing, hydrophysical profiling, groundwater modeling, and numerical analysis).
• Proven ability to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects including budgets, schedules, and regulatory commitments.
• Experience integrating hydrogeologic investigations with feasibility studies and alternatives analyses.
• Experience providing expert witness testimony at environmental hearings.

Foth is currently seeking a team-focused, innovative, and results-oriented Lead Hydrogeologist who is looking for new learning experiences, opportunities for career growth, and a desire to contribute to our clients' success.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead the technical execution of hydrogeological aspects of projects


• Work with project managers to estimate project costs and consult on technical approach


• Develop technical approaches for regional hydrologic characterization of groundwater systems in environments comprised of unconsolidated deposits and fractured crystalline rock


• Provide project and technical leadership on complex, multi-disciplined projects, to include managing a portion of a project’s budget, scope, schedule, regulatory and contractual commitments


• Develop and implement technical approaches for numerical analysis of groundwater and surface water systems in support of permitting, industrial development and site remediation


• Teach, mentor and develop other members, as well as serve as a resource in the area of hydrogeology

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Engineering, or a closely related field


• Minimum 10 years of experience conducting hydrogeological investigations, including at least 5 years of hands‑on field experience


• Demonstrated experience coordinating and executing field characterization programs, including aquifer testing, hydrophysical profiling, groundwater modeling, and numerical analysis


• Proven ability to provide project leadership on complex, multi-disciplinary projects, including management of budgets, schedules, regulatory and contractual commitments, and delivery of technical consultation


• Experience integrating hydrogeologic investigations and numerical analyses with feasibility studies and alternatives analyses


• Previous experience providing expert witness testimony at environmental hearings

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Hydrogeology or Engineering, or a closely related field


• Experience working in deep bedrock environments


• Previous experience working with a technical consulting firm
