Job summary

McKenney’s is seeking an HVAC Startup Technician to manage startup activities and system evaluations on diverse projects, including documentation of pre-functional tasks and action item maintenance. You will participate in point-to-point checks, functional testing, and issue resolution as part of the Commissioning team.

The role requires strong leadership, effective communication, and the ability to supervise startup crews while coordinating with other trades to maintain schedules.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years commercial HVAC startup or service experience.
• High school diploma or GED required; HVAC/R technical training preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license with clean driving record and insurability.

Responsibilities

• Lead startup activities on diverse project types and sizes.
• Document pre-functional activities in commissioning docs.
• Maintain action item lists and report project status daily.
• Coordinate startup scheduling with commissioning PM and vendors.
• Mentor apprentices and supervise startup technicians.
• Troubleshoot system problems and drive resolution with team.
