Job summary

Big Spring High School in Newville, PA, seeks a Head Coach for the high school track and field program to lead coaching efforts and program development. The role emphasizes planning, safety, parent engagement, and adherence to school policies.

The coach will coordinate schedules, supervise athletes, and collaborate with the Athletic Director and staff. The position is part-time and requires strong leadership, mentorship, and a commitment to student-athlete welfare and high standards of conduct

Responsibilities

Plan a continuous program of instruction with written goals and objectives across developmental levels (middle school, JV, varsity).
Coordinate and evaluate the total program and ensure consistency across levels.
Meet with students at season start to review practice schedules, rules, expectations, health, conditioning and game philosophy.
Prepare information sheets and ensure rules/compliance documents are filed with the athletic director.
Hold a season-start meeting for parents to share program details and engage families.
Supervise and model appropriate conduct, welfare, and sportsmanship for athletes and spectators.
Inspect equipment and fields, report hazards, and manage inventory at season end.
Prepare and follow-up on practice plans, emergency procedures, injuries, and required forms.
Oversee budget submissions, mandatory trainings (First Aid/CPR, concussion), and communications with the A.D. and Principal.
