Job summary

WVU Medicine Environmental Services position at GRMC Garrett Regional Medical Center requires a dedicated professional to maintain clean and orderly hospital areas. You will supervise housekeeping activities, stock supplies, and ensure adherence to cleaning schedules and safety protocols.

The role demands at least 1 year of housekeeping experience and a preferred high school diploma or equivalent. Weekly hours are 40 with a pay range of $15.68–$23.51 per hour and eligible shift differentials.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors housekeeping activities in assigned area(s) to ensure proper cleaning, servicing and stocking of supplies, the completion of work schedules and supervisory instructions; reporting problems as necessary.
  • Performs housekeeping duties including sweeping, dusting, polishing, mopping, vacuuming and trash removal.
  • Ensures all supplies, materials and equipment are available in assigned work area for proper performance of duties; report equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Reports need for repair to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures.
  • Assists in training employees in proper cleaning techniques and use of supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards.

Leads environmental services associates in performing a variety of environmental services to maintain assigned areas in a clean and orderly condition.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • One (1) year of housekeeping experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have physical ability to perform cleaning tasks such as mopping, reaching and bending and operating floor equipment such as vacuum cleaners, autoscrubbers, buffers, etc.
  • Must meet Department of Labor's Heavy Duty Standard.
  • Capable of wearing appropriate PPE for an extended period of time.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids and different types of cleaning chemicals.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to be scheduled for work based on operational needs of the hospital.
  • Possesses the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of assigned areas, necessary supplies and equipment
  • Must be able to read and follow written work assignments.

Compensation Range: $15.68 - $23.51

Position is eligible for shift differentials based on shift worked and eligible for overtime pay hours over 40 hours per week
