Job summary

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Maine is seeking a Horticulture Manager to lead and inspire the Horticulture team, oversee daily and weekly tasks, and collaborate with the Plants and Science unit. The role emphasizes ecological horticulture, collaboration with multiple departments, and supporting Gardens Aglow and other events.

The position is year-round, full-time, with standard hours, some weekends/holidays, and benefits including health, retirement, and a Gardens membership.

Qualifications

• BS degree in horticulture or related plant science field with at least 5 years of practical experience in horticulture, botany, and/or landscape design/maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Lead staff and supervise horticulturists, seasonal gardeners, and interns.
• Set priorities for daily/weekly departmental tasks with the Director.
• Model horticultural excellence and foster a collaborative team culture.
• Engage with guests and volunteers about programs and garden practices.
• Contribute to plant selection and garden improvements with design teams.
