Job summary

DeAngelo Contracting Services is seeking a Lead Highway Technician for our Asset Management Division. You will perform day-to-day maintenance, servicing, and repair of roadways and related infrastructure, while upholding our morals, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

You will supervise crews, set up and remove traffic control devices, operate bucket trucks and light equipment, and ensure timely, quality work.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 21+ years of age with a valid driver’s license and 3+ years of clean driving.
  • Own reliable transportation and ability to travel.
  • Infrastructure maintenance experience plus 1–2 years supervisory experience.
  • Advanced MOT certification is required.
  • Comfort working alongside highway traffic; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes safety culture and ensures compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Set up and remove traffic control devices to create safe MOT.
  • Maintain and repair highways, potholes, striping, and related assets.
  • Maintain appearance of highways/medians; remove litter and debris.
  • Repair slopes, culverts, drains, and related infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers; drive to sites.

Job Description

As an employee of DeAngelo Contracting Service’s (DCS’s) Asset Management Division, you will need to have an eye for detail, all while upholding our company’s morals and principles, as well as adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The perfect applicant is a highly motivated Lead Highway Technicianthat can perform a variety of tasks related to the day-to-day maintenance, servicing, repair of roadways, and other infrastructure assets. This person will also be responsible for maintaining contracted assets, such as roadways, medians, signs, lighting, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc., per the standards in the contract and as directed by a supervisor.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates and promotes a positive safety culture by requiring full compliance of the project team members and subcontractors to adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Creates safe Maintenance of Traffic control by setup and removal of traffic control devices including cones, message/arrow boards, temporary signage, etc.
  • Maintains and repairs highways and other surfaces including potholes, striping, adding, or replacing reflectors, delineators, working with concrete and asphalt.
  • Maintains clean appearance of highways and medians through litter and debris removal and disposal (may use litter claw or another device).
  • Repairs/maintains functionality of slopes, berms, culverts, drains, etc. through use of shovels and other hand or power tools and equipment.
  • Controls vegetation appearance and growth through use of lawn mowing equipment, hand or power trimmers, and chemical sprayers and other methods.
  • Maintains the appearance and functionality of signs, guardrails, fence, and lighting through repair and/or replacement using hand or power tools.
  • Must be comfortable working from heights in bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders, and aerial platforms lifts.
  • Transports crew and equipment to work sites operating vehicle pickup trucks and specialized motor vehicles and trailers.
  • Responsible for the proper management, preventative maintenance, and repair of trucks and equipment.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with the customer, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Promote a strong customer service culture among the project team members.
  • Required to be available for emergency response rotations as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Directs and coordinates local emergency response and responds as needed to road closures or incidents.
  • Assists in making recommendations by monitoring employee performance for coaching, rewards, and disciplining employees to address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Positively contributes to a diverse, inclusive, and fair work environment, free from discrimination, bullying, and harassment.
  • Carry out all duties in line with Company policies and procedures as amended from time to time.
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of clean driving. (must be able to pass an mvr search.)
  • Must have your own reliable transportation.
  • Must have infrastructure maintenance experience.
  • Must have at least 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Advanced mot certification is required.
  • Must be comfortable working alongside the highway or median beside fast-moving traffic.
  • Must have able to travel away from home periodically, as needed.
  • Must have excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
  • This position is labor intensive. Employee may be required to drive, stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time.
  • First aid and cpr certified preferred.
