Job summary

The City of Tomball is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator/Crew Leader to supervise Streets and Parks crews, with guidance from the Streets and Drainage Foreman. The role involves operating street sweepers, backhoes, loaders, and other heavy machinery on maintenance and construction projects.

You will read maps and blueprints, set up traffic control, and ensure safety and quality on work orders while coordinating with servicemen and seasonal staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Experience operating heavy machinery and equipment.
• Ability to read maps, blueprints, and grade stakes.
• Knowledge of safety practices in construction and traffic control.
• Capable of supervising crews and laborers.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including backhoes, loaders, and dump trucks.
• Set up culverts, patch roads, and maintain streets and drainage.
• Read maps and blueprints and ensure accurate work orders.
• Supervise servicemen and Summer Laborers as needed.
• Follow safety protocols and report maintenance needs.
