Job summary

Virgin Galactic is seeking a Lead Mechanic for our Ground Support Equipment team at our aerospace facility in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The role focuses on maintaining a fleet of GSE/SGSE and other equipment, performing diagnostics, and leading repair planning and execution.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of mechanical experience, supervisory exposure, and welding skills. Travel domestically and internationally may be required, with a strong emphasis on safety and show-room standard

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years mechanical experience.
• At least 1 year in a supervisory/lead role.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
• Ability to read and interpret printed or electronic maintenance manuals.
• Welding experience with MIG, stick, or acetylene welding.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and quality maintenance on company owned/leased GSE, SGSE, and vehicle fleet.
• Perform diagnostic procedures to determine needed repairs.
• Create and execute repair plans, order parts, and communicate delays to supervisor.
• Assist with and perform mechanical and electric repairs on equipment; welding repairs as needed.
• Daily preoperational inspection of gear to ensure serviceability and readiness.
