Job summary

Dallas Independent School District is seeking a Lead Groundsperson (260 Days) to supervise utility laborers in landscaping tasks including mowing, seeding, fertilizing, and trimming. You will oversee grading, maintenance of lawns, trees, and shrubs on campus sites and ensure equipment is secured and maintained.

The role requires at least three years of related experience, a valid Texas driver's license, and the ability to pass the district's random drug test.

Qualifications

• Three years of directly related experience.
• Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Texas Driver's License and driving record meeting the District’s standard.
• Must pass Dallas ISD random drug test.
• General knowledge in landscaping and fertilizer application.
• Knowledge of the Maintenance Department’s organization and operation.

Responsibilities

• On-site supervision of utility laborers for grading, seeding, sodding, and mowing.
• Maintain lawns, trees and shrubs; perform manual landscape tasks.
• Inspect work and ensure contractor compliance with assignments.
• Maintain and secure tools and equipment; coordinate supplies.
• Assist in scheduling mowing and other landscape activities.
• Perform recordkeeping for work orders and tasks.

Description

• On site supervision of utility laborers involved with preparation of grading terrain, application of fertilizers, seeding and sodding of lawns, transplanting trees, shrubs and mowing lawns.
• Perform manual labor in maintaining lawns, trees, shrubs, and mowing lawns.
• Provide truck and equipment security and assign tools and equipment.
• Maintain tools and equipment, coordinate supplies, and make recommendations for needed supplies and equipment.
• Insure landscape contractor has completed assigned work by performing onsite inspection.
• Assist in supervision of tree and shrub pruning.
• Identify and resolve routine employee work problems.
• Assist in the installation and repair District signage.
• Assist in determining lawn mowing schedules.
• Perform recordkeeping associated with work orders.
• Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency).
• Three years of directly related experience.
• Valid Texas Driver's License and a driving record that meets the District’s standard.
• General knowledge in landscaping and application of fertilizer.
