Job summary

Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, LA, is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to lead a crew of attendants and equipment operators in maintaining campus grounds under various weather conditions. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs and availability for weekends and after-hours as needed.

You will oversee mowing, pruning, weed control, fertilization, irrigation tasks, and general grounds maintenance for LSU properties.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience or training in farming, the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs, or groundskeeping.
• Twelve semester hours in a plant science or landscape field of study.

Responsibilities

• 75%- Directs a crew of grounds workers and contractors to maintain safety, appearance, and health of grounds.
• Operates or directs others on power riding tractors and mowers to maintain grounds.
• 10%- Directs or applies chemicals for weed/pest control, fertilization, mulch, planting, litter removal, and related tasks.
• 5%- Assists with irrigation, digging, grading, and drain basin cleaning.
• 5%- Fills in for Foreman and handles time sheets and paperwork.
• 5%- Performs other work as necessary.
