Job summary

Duly Health and Care is seeking a Department Lead Technologist to supervise the GI Tech team and manage surgical supplies and sterilization processes. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality care and compliance with policies. The candidate must have experience in the Endoscopic Suite, supervisory skills, and maintain BCLS/ACLS certification.

Located in Alabama, the position requires a full-time commitment, offering comprehensive benefits including tuition reimbursement and a 401(k) match.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years experience in the Endoscopic Suite required.
  • One year minimum supervisory experience necessary.
  • Must hold a BCLS/ACLS Certification, renewed every two years.

Position Highlights

Full‑Time, 40 hours/week
Hours: Monday‑Friday; 6am‑3pm. Rotating Saturday.
Location: Warrenville, IL. May be required to travel to other locations.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as a Department Lead Technologist by assisting other GI Techs, ensuring quality, and participating as a team member while being accountable for own work responsibilities.
  • Supervises work performed by the department and may delegate work to staff members.
  • Counsels and coaches the team by guiding, directing, motivating, and mediating conflict resolution.
  • Maintains staff schedule and manages time off and call‑ins to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Organizes and secures trainings and in‑services as needed.
  • Assists with staff development, new employee orientation, and training; monitors and ensures staff compliance with policies and procedures; maintains accreditation.
  • Prepares and maintains logs, records, reviews of infection queries, daily surveys, incident reports, etc.
  • Maintains records verifying professional employees’ licenses and certifications.
  • Coordinates bi‑annual peer chart reviews for all doctors.
  • Maintains communication with accreditation consultants.
  • General office management.
  • Orders and maintains appropriate inventory levels of supplies and equipment; maintains vendor relationships for equipment service, purchasing, supplies, and training.
  • Communicates with mobile anesthesia.
  • Assures availability of instrumentation and supplies required for the surgical procedure prior to the case.
  • Participates in GI room set‑up, turnover, cleaning, and restocking.
  • Maintains sterile technique in opening of surgical supplies and instrumentation.
  • Cleans, prepares, and decontaminates GI scopes and equipment.
  • Provides aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Observes, recognizes, and anticipates common surgical complications, and assists with emergency care as needed; reports unusual conditions to the RN.
  • Possesses general knowledge of equipment and supplies.
  • Performs duties relating to processing, decontaminating, and maintaining the surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies in accordance with manufacturer specifications and the Center’s policies and procedures.
  • Understands and practices principles of universal precautions and hazardous materials management to process instruments, equipment, and supplies through the stages of decontamination.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of standard instrumentation and equipment, their functions and uses.
  • Maintains documentation of biological indicators for sterile processing equipment.
  • Maintains appropriate instrument sets and supplies relating to their sterility, storage, and inventory levels.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently under established policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates ability to set up surgical trays and wrap appropriately for sterilization.
Other Duties
  • Stocks supplies in room and blanket warmer.
  • Assists with turnovers.
Education
  • High School Diploma.
  • BCLS/ACLS Certification (renewed every two years).
Experience
  • All minimum qualifications.
  • Central Service Department experience.
  • Minimum of two years experience in the Endoscopic Suite and one year minimum supervisory experience.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of 19.07‑28.61, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
