Job summary

HRforGrowth represents a client seeking a hands-on Principal GCP Data Architect to design and implement enterprise-scale data ecosystems on GCP. The role emphasizes governance, security, and modern data platform architecture with Looker, Vertex AI, and BigQuery ML.

The candidate will lead large cross-functional teams, drive cloud migrations from AWS to GCP, and implement IaC with Terraform or Pulumi, while mentoring engineers in Agile/DevOps environments.

Qualifications

• 18–20 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, and Business Intelligence.
• Minimum 6 years of experience specifically focused on GCP.
• Active GCP Professional Data Engineer certification.
• Exclusively worked with GCP in relevant cloud experience.
• Expert-level proficiency across the GCP Data Stack (BigQuery, GCS, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Looker, Vertex AI, BigQuery ML).
• Deep experience with dbt, Airflow, and GKE/Kubernetes.
• Proven leadership of two PB-scale cloud migrations in Agile/DevOps settings.
• Strong governance, security, architecture, and enterprise data platform design.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term roadmaps for enterprise data platforms on GCP.
• Design modern self-service data architectures with centralized governance, security, and quality.
• Lead end-to-end enterprise-scale cloud migrations (AWS to GCP).
• Architect large PB-scale data ecosystems to support massive workloads.
• Enforce data governance, IAM, VPC Service Controls, encryption, and automated governance with Dataplex.
• Drive IaC practices using Terraform or Pulumi for repeatable infrastructure.
• Architect using GCP data services (BigQuery, BigLake, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub).
• Support analytics and AI capabilities with Looker, Vertex AI, and BigQuery ML.
• Integrate Pub/Sub and Confluent/Kafka; promote dbt, Airflow, and containerization (GKE).
• Lead cross-functional teams in Agile/DevOps; collaborate with stakeholders and executives.
