Job summary

Job Juncture seeks a Lead Software Engineer – Full Stack in Long Island City, NY to lead and mentor a cross‑functional team building life sciences software solutions. You will own architecture decisions, shape product strategy, and collaborate with product management and external engineers to deliver impactful features.

The role emphasizes hands‑on leadership, modern frontend/backend tech, and cloud deployments, with a focus on scalable, data‑driven applications for researchers and labs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Python and Django experience.
• Strong full-stack experience across frontend and backend.
• Experience with React or a comparable modern frontend framework.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or another major cloud provider.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, development methodologies, testing, and deployment.
• Demonstrated technical leadership experience and ability to guide other engineers.
• Experience coordinating or managing external engineering resources.
• Must live in or relocate to the New York City area and be on-site in Long Island City, NY.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable, reliable, testable software across frontend and backend applications.
• Partner with product managers, customers, and stakeholders to prioritize enhancements.
• Contribute to software architecture and evaluate design tradeoffs.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and improve platform performance.
• Design and maintain data pipelines supporting ML and data-driven apps.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to internal teams.
• Manage automated deployments and ongoing web server maintenance.
• Coordinate and oversee work of external engineering resources.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Take ownership of complex projects and drive them to completion.
• Improve scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability of the platform.
