Job summary

Echo Neurotechnologies is seeking an experienced Firmware Engineering Lead to own the firmware architecture for next-generation implantable medical devices. Initially an individual contributor, you will bring‑up hardware, ensure real‑time control, and optimize for low power.

As the platform matures, you will grow and lead a dedicated firmware team, guide technical roadmap, and drive day‑to‑day execution while delivering safe, compliant medical software features.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of embedded firmware experience in C/C++, spanning the full medical device lifecycle.
• Experience with bare‑metal or RTOS firmware on resource‑constrained MCUs.
• Knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and FDA regulations.
• Proven leadership experience or line management capability.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and debug low‑power firmware for implantable devices.
• Mentor engineers and establish CI/CD, code reviews, and modular architecture.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, quality and regulatory teams to meet safety and compliance budgets.
• Scale the firmware team and lead technical strategy, resource planning, and day‑to‑day execution.
• Produce documentation and verification suites for regulatory submissions.
