Duties
- Support the fire-prevention program to reduce or eliminate fire dangers for local employees working within the Command.
- Respond on site to accidents and other emergencies involving injuries and illnesses.
- Respond to incidents involving hazardous materials.
- Serve as the Lead Firefighter directing the operation of one major piece of firefighting apparatus and an ambulance crew.
- Respond to local airfield for crash rescue emergencies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of pre-employment and periodic subsequent medical examination in accordance with DoDM 6055.06 to ensure continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear the prescribed uniform and/or personal protective equipment while on duty.
- This position requires the Incumbent to work 72 hours per week (144 hours Bi-Weekly) requiring working nights, weekends, and holidays.
- This position requires successful completion of an annual Job Performance Test.
- The incumbent will be assigned to the Technical Rescue Team and required to complete additional Rescue Technician I (DoD, IFSAC or Pro-board Certifications) within one year from date of employment as condition of employment.
- This position requires up to 5% of business travel.
- This position requires the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid state and government driver's license is required.
- Incumbent must participate in a cardiovascular physical fitness program.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met.
- This position is subject to recalls to duty in support of emergency operations; therefore, the incumbent must maintain a functioning telephone.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes (1) controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; (2) responding to medical emergencies; (3) detecting, reducing, or eliminating of potential fire hazards; (4) operating fire communications equipment; (5) controlling hazardous materials incidents.

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess: Firefighter I & II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Officer I, Driver Operator Pumper, and Hazardous Material Technician certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M and Emergency Medical Technician, EMT-Basic certification (or higher) from the state of GA or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Card indicating a future expiration date.

Education
