Job description

Do what you became a financial planner to do: build meaningful client relationships, provide thoughtful financial advice, and help families make important financial decisions.

John Moore Associates (JMA) is seeking an experienced Lead Financial Planner to serve as the primary advisor and trusted financial partner for established and new client relationships.

This is an opportunity for an experienced CFP® professional who loves financial planning and working with clients but does not want success to depend on building a book of business, cold calling, or spending significant time on administrative tasks.

No book of business is required. This is not a rainmaking or production role.

JMA provides established client relationships as well as new relationships coming into the firm. Our Lead Financial Planners are supported by an Assistant Financial Advisor and Client Service Team, allowing them to focus their time and talents primarily on financial planning, advice, and client relationships.

What You’ll Do

Lead Client Relationships

Serve as the primary advisor for assigned JMA families, including established relationships transitioned to you and new relationships coming into the firm. Develop deep, long-term relationships built on trust, excellent advice, and an understanding of each family's goals and priorities.

Deliver Comprehensive Financial Planning

Lead the development and ongoing implementation of comprehensive financial plans across retirement, investments, tax planning, estate planning, charitable giving, insurance and risk management, cash flow, and multigenerational planning.

Lead Client Meetings

Prepare for and lead client review and planning meetings, identify planning opportunities, communicate recommendations clearly, and ensure clients understand the decisions and actions being considered.

Lead the Client Team

Work closely with an Assistant Financial Advisor and Client Service Team. Delegate and coordinate follow-up and implementation so that client needs are handled accurately and efficiently without requiring the Lead Planner to process routine forms and administrative work.

Provide Investment Advice

Participate in JMA's weekly Investment Committee meetings to remain informed on portfolio strategy, markets, and investment recommendations so you can confidently communicate investment advice to clients.

Coordinate With Other Professionals

Collaborate with clients' CPAs, estate planning attorneys, insurance professionals, and other advisors to help ensure that financial strategies are coordinated across the client's financial life.

Represent JMA

Represent the firm professionally with clients, prospective clients, centers of influence, and within the community. While Lead Financial Planners may participate in relationship-building activities, this position does not carry traditional prospecting, cold-calling, or individual production requirements.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is an experienced financial planner who has already demonstrated the ability to independently lead affluent client relationships.

Required Qualifications

  • CFP® certification
  • 5+ years of financial planning or wealth management experience
  • Experience serving as the lead advisor for client relationships

  • Experience coordinating advanced tax, estate, charitable, and multigenerational planning strategies

Our Approach

JMA provides comprehensive financial planning and investment advice to families and integrates a biblical worldview into our approach to stewardship, generosity, financial decision-making, and client service.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working in this environment and capable of helping clients incorporate their values and priorities into thoughtful financial decisions.
