Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Field Service Mechanic A to lead fleet maintenance at customer job sites in Las Vegas. You will conduct advanced diagnostics, perform repairs, and mentor B/C-level technicians while ensuring equipment remains ready for rental.

The role requires strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, propane, and fuel systems, proficiency with diagnostic tools, and the ability to work outdoors in varied weather. Pay ranges $35–$40 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to obtain FMCSA DQF.
• Own a sufficient set of hand and air/electric tools for repairs.
• Ability to drive/operate multiple vehicle types and equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
• Mastery of Field Service Mechanic B and C level tasks.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, propane, and fuel systems.
• Proficiency with computerized diagnostic tools and fleet management systems.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain PM schedules for Herc-owned fleet at active job sites.
• Test equipment onsite to verify quality before and after repairs.
• Independently perform routine maintenance and repairs on fleet equipment and trucks.
• Perform oil changes, lubrication, tire/hose/battery replacements, and related field services.
• Recondition/replace heavy equipment parts and diagnose wear onsite.
• Keep service truck and inventory clean, organized, and stocked.
• Produce detailed service reports and repair logs per visit.
• Follow field procedures, safety requirements; other duties as assigned.
• Diagnose engines, electrical, propane, hydraulic, and fuel systems onsite using diagnostic tools.
• Repair using electrical schematics and inspect overvoltage protection.
• Replace/diagnose control modules; reprogram firmware/software via laptop/tablet.
• Apply computer-controlled diagnostics to resolve electrical issues without branch return.
• Diagnose lithium electrical issues, intermittent faults, and post-fire failure analysis.
• Diagnose/repair safety-critical circuits to restore equipment onsite.
