Job description

About 1X

We’re building humanoid robots that work in home - doing the chores, handling the tasks, and giving people their time back. Simple, but it’s not.

To do this right, we have to solve robotics, AI, manufacturing - at the same time, at scale, in a form factor that has to be safe enough to live with your family. If you’re inspired by this, you’ll thrive here. We’ve been at this since 2014 and we’re at the point where the hard problems are behind us and the hard work is in front of us.

NEO is our flagship - a home robot designed to move, learn, and operate in the real world alongside real people. We’re not demoing it - we’re shipping it. We’re excited to meet you, if this excites you.

If you’ve spent your career working on problems that matter and want to see them actually reach the world - this is that moment. We’re scaling, we’re hiring with intention, and we need people who want to build something that will genuinely change how humans spend their time - safely creating abundance for all.

About the Team

Our Infrastructure team builds and operates the environments that enable our robots, and the people creating them, to perform at their best. From scaling manufacturing and lab spaces to ensuring safety, reliability, and operational excellence across every site, the team creates the physical foundation that powers innovation and production.

Infrastructure plays a critical role in accelerating execution by delivering world-class workplaces, infrastructure, and operational readiness that allow engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to move faster and scale smarter.

Your Charter

The Infrastructure team is responsible for building and operating the physical foundation that enables 1X to scale humanoid robotics from development to production. This team ensures our manufacturing sites, labs, warehouses, and workplaces are safe, reliable, and operationally excellent environments where engineering, production, and business teams can move with speed and focus.

As a Facilities Technician, you will help maintain and improve the building systems that keep our operations running safely and efficiently. You will support critical facility infrastructure including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems while helping ensure our engineering, manufacturing, and workplace environments remain highly functional, reliable, and ready to scale.

Key Outcomes
  • Maintain high facility uptime through proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and rapid response to infrastructure issues.

  • Support reliable operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems across the site.

  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve facility issues before they impact employee productivity, manufacturing operations, or site safety.

  • Ensure facility infrastructure remains organized, compliant, and operationally ready through preventative maintenance and inspection programs.

  • Partner effectively with vendors, contractors, EHS, and internal stakeholders to support facility projects, repairs, and operational improvements.

Key Competencies
  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) building systems.

  • Ability to troubleshoot facility issues independently and determine appropriate corrective actions.

  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and operational excellence.

  • Comfortable working in fast‑paced engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environments.

  • Reliable, safety‑focused operator who takes ownership of problems and follows through to resolution.

Minimum Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience supporting facilities operations, building maintenance, manufacturing facilities, commercial buildings, or related infrastructure environments.

  • Hands‑on experience supporting HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or other building systems.

  • Ability to safely use tools, ladders, lifts, and maintenance equipment while performing facility work.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve facility‑related issues.

  • Ability to lift and move materials, equipment, and supplies as required for facility operations.

Preferred Skills
  • EPA 608 Certification or hands‑on HVAC maintenance experience.

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, robotics, laboratory, warehouse, or industrial facilities.

  • Electrical Trainee (ET) card, electrical certification, or electrical maintenance experience.

  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs, CMMS systems, and vendor management.

  • Experience supporting facility expansions, construction projects, or infrastructure upgrades.
