Job summary

Stellantis NV in Auburn, Alabama is seeking a Design Release Engineer to lead the development, validation, and release of exterior lighting systems such as headlamps, tail lamps, and signaling devices across the vehicle development lifecycle.

You will own design release processes in PLM tools, coordinate cross-functional teams, ensure regulatory compliance, drive DFMEA and DV/PV testing, and support prototypes, with a focus on cost, quality, and timely launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in automotive exterior lighting or related systems.
• Experience with design release engineering processes.
• Familiarity with lighting components and CAD tools.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups.
• Experience with automotive validation (DV/PV) testing.
• Knowledge of FMVSS 108 and ECE lighting standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end engineering delivery of exterior lighting systems from concept through production launch.
• Own design release of components in PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill).
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across Styling, Packaging, Electrical, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Suppliers.
• Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements (FMVSS, ECE, SAE).
• Manage supplier development activities including design reviews and issue resolution.
• Drive DFMEA, DVPR/DVP validation activities.
• Support prototyping, testing and launch readiness.
• Identify and resolve engineering issues (fit, function, optics, etc.).
• Track program milestones, cost targets and quality metrics.
• Lead ECR/ECN and change management.
