Job summary

Metro Plumbing, Heating & Air in Chattanooga, TN seeks a Lead Excavation Technician for our Sewer & Septic Division. You will run an excavator on sewer/septic projects, lead a small crew, and ensure precise digging while working safely around utilities.

We require 3–5 years of excavation experience and proven ability to lead on-site. CDL A is a plus. This full-time role offers year-round work, comprehensive benefits, and growth potential within the division.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of excavation experience required.
• Strong excavator operating skills.
• Experience leading a crew or running jobs.
• Knowledge of trenching, grading, utilities, and excavation safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate an excavator on sewer and septic jobs.
• Dig sewer line installs, repairs, and replacements.
• Excavate for septic system installs and repairs.
• Lead a small excavation crew on the jobsite.
• Ensure job is laid out and dug correctly.
• Work around utilities and existing structures.
• Handle trenching, grading, backfilling, and cleanup.
• Coordinate with plumbers, inspectors, and other team members.
• Keep the crew productive and the job moving.
• Report maintenance issues and care for equipment.
