Acosta Group in Hawaii is seeking an Event Specialist to perform in-store demonstrations for food and non-food products, engage customers, and drive product sales with professional execution. You will manage event equipment, maintain knowledge of represented products, and ensure a clean, safe, and compliant demo environment.

The role emphasizes strong communication, ability to train or lead a team in supervisor’s absence, and adherence to retailer dress code and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient ability to use and navigate a personal computer and personal mobile device using applications and internal systems.
  • Food Safety Professional Certification, local food handlers permit if required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment and supplies for events to keep them clean and secure in the backroom area.
  • Act as point of contact when supervisor is absent and communicate with store management about events.
  • Lead and assist the team during events and ensure correct product demonstrations.
  • Effectively communicate product features and benefits to customers.
  • Prepare and serve food samples while following safety guidelines and using small appliances.
  • Maintain a clean, safe workstation and professional appearance.
  • Document success by taking photos of table setup for client records.
  • Complete expense reports and online requirements on event day.

Description

The Associate is responsible for completing in‑store food and non‑food demonstrations. Acquires and maintains knowledge of products represented. Serves, demonstrates, intercepts consumers and sells products in a professional manner. Responsible for the event execution equipment in the stores. Maintains an overall professional appearance consistent with the requirements of the job.

Responsibilities
  • Management and maintenance of the equipment and supplies used for events to ensure they are clean and secure in the agreed upon area of the backroom.
  • When the supervisor is absent, communicate with store management about upcoming events and the execution of past events in their store.
  • When the supervisor is absent, be the point person for all events being conducted in the store; assist other Event Specialists as needed.
  • Assist supervisor by providing leadership and knowledge to the team.
  • Possess aptitude and ability to gain adequate knowledge of the products represented.
  • Have desire and ability to proactively intercept, engage, interact, and sell product to customers in a positive manner.
  • Assist/perform all job responsibilities assigned to the demo program.
  • Effectively communicate the features and benefits of the product.
  • Prepare and serve food samples, including raw meats, produce, and eggs, complying with food safety guidelines.
  • Prepare and serve food samples using small appliances such as microwaves, fryers, skillets, coffee makers, and knives.
  • Maintain a clean, sterile, and safe workstation using cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain a professional appearance consistent with the requirements of the job.
  • Properly set up and prepare event table for execution.
  • Complete all work assigned.
  • Assist with preparation for client visits and complete audit corrections.
  • Build and maintain rapport with store personnel to effectively meet company and client objectives.
  • Complete expense reports as per company policy.
  • Prepare and submit all online requirements on the same day as event execution.
  • Takes digital photos of perfect table setup to document success stories for clients.

This role is not expected to exceed more than 25 hours per week; however, the company reserves discretion to change the role based on business needs.

Qualifications
Education and Experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Food Safety Professional Certification, local food handlers permit if required.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear; visual ability to read instructions and perform responsibilities; stoop, kneel, crouch, climb (including use of a 6’ ladder); balance; lift and carry up to 25 pounds (occasionally up to 50 pounds); push and pull a wheeled demonstration cart fully laden with appliances, supplies and product; prepare foods using raw products; be in contact with cleaning supplies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Will be point of contact when supervisor is absent.

Working Conditions

Retail store environment with limited travel.

Physical Appearance

Individuals must ensure a professional appearance and proper grooming and present a neat, clean and appropriately groomed appearance per retailer dress code requirements.

Language Skills

English is the primary language skill; bilingual skills may be required based on business necessity.
