Job summary

Cajun is seeking a Lead Estimator to develop and manage comprehensive cost estimates during conceptual and schematic design phases for engineering, construction, and integrated delivery projects in the Baton Rouge area.

The role requires 8–10 years of mechanical estimating experience, strong cost modeling skills, and the ability to communicate with clients and internal teams. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of mechanical estimating experience.
• Experience in petrochemical/oil and gas markets is preferred.
• Strong understanding of design-build and integrated project delivery methods.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management and supervision.
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of conceptual and schematic cost estimates for engineering, construction, and integrated delivery projects.
• Review bid documents published by the client.
• Identify material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists.
• Use historical data, quantity take-offs, unit pricing, and systems/line count methods.
• Prepare management-ready cost Estimates for planning, bids and vendor/subcontractor selection.
• Consult with clients, vendors, and internal teams to discuss and resolve estimates.
• Promote collaboration with estimating team to improve constructability and cost efficiency.
• Prepare technical and commercial approach to proposal cost and present models to teams and clients.
