Job summary
Penn State University is seeking a Principal Electro-Optic and Infrared (EO/IR) Systems Engineer in Freeport, PA. This role involves leading research for DoD acquisitions, developing performance models, and managing projects related to imaging systems. The ideal candidate will have 19+ years of experience in EO/IR systems with significant knowledge of infrared imaging design and testing. The position may involve mentoring staff and interfacing with various stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions in defense technology.
Qualifications
19+ years of relevant experience in EO/IR system engineering is required.
Experience with infrared imaging systems is a must.
Familiarity with lab instrumentation and tools such as oscilloscopes.
Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical devices and imaging sensors.
Responsibilities
Lead team on all aspects of system testing including authoring test plans.
Interface with customers to understand their problems and brainstorm solutions.
Perform forecasting of imaging system performance through physics-based modeling.
Devise and lead projects focused on solving complex imaging problems.
