Job summary

3M is seeking an Enterprise Search Tech Lead to design and optimize the enterprise search platform, deploying on AWS OpenSearch and enabling AI-enabled experiences across digital surfaces. You will own ingestion pipelines, indexing, APIs, and platform reliability.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with global teams to advance hybrid retrieval, semantic search, and RAG/L2M use cases. Maplewood, MN or Austin, TX locations with up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or Technology field (completed and verified prior to start).
• Five (5) years of search-related development experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Seven (7) years of overall software engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of enterprise search solutions built on AWS OpenSearch.
• Own technical decisions across the full search stack: ingestion pipelines, search APIs, index design, and IaC.
• Drive platform evolution toward hybrid retrieval to support RAG, LLM grounding, and agentic AI use cases.
