Job summary

Ask IT consulting in Harrisburg, PA is seeking an experienced iOS Architect to design enterprise mobile solutions for PennDOT. The role covers end-to-end architecture across native iOS and hybrid components, with emphasis on security, data modeling, and RESTful integration.

Candidates will work with product owners, BAs and PMs, and provide mentorship to PennDOT staff; onsite interview process is expected, and local candidates are preferred in the Harrisburg area.

Qualifications

• Full SDLC experience as an application developer.
• Strong object oriented development background.
• Experience with iOS SDK and Objective-C.
• Familiarity with Swift and latest iOS APIs/frameworks.
• Experience with Core Data.
• iOS Auto Layout, Storyboard, Blocks, and GCD.
• Experience deploying iOS apps, incl. via MDM.
• Relational database design and development.
• Ability to architect mobile apps consuming web services.
• Experience in Java-centric server-side development.
• Proven team leadership experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an architect of n-tier apps using iOS as access to enterprise backends.
• Collaborate with product owners, BAs and PMs to define requirements.
• Lead full SDLC for iOS apps (Objective-C, Swift, HTML5, JSON, XML, REST).
• Lead backend services design (Java, Spring, MyBatis, SOAP/REST, SOA).
• Design database objects in DB2, SQLServer and Oracle.
• Understand Apple technologies: certificates, provisioning, code signing, keychains, push, app transport, iOS histories.
• Apply expert iOS frameworks: UI, Core Data, storyboards, security, camera, async/multitasking.
• Implement design patterns and Cocoa layers; manage memory, notifications, blocks.
• Triage bugs and resolve production issues; perform code reviews.
• Mentor PennDOT staff; provide technical assistance.
• Follow Agile Scrum; daily standups, grooming and planning.
