Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking a lead electrical engineer to design, build, and activate advanced power plants and generation infrastructure. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, coordinating with electrical, mechanical, controls, and field partners to deliver safe, reliable power systems on multiple projects.

You will mentor engineers, perform load-flow analyses, review schematics, and ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, NESC, and IEEE standards while meeting budget and schedule requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• 3+ years of professional experience on electrical projects.
• Experience with power distribution, switchgear, UPS, and/or generators.
• PE license preferred.
• Ability to read power and control schematics and O&M manuals.
• Experience with VFDs and industrial pumps.
• Experience with MODBUS, MV distribution, control panel design, and arc flash.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and lead a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers and provide electrical design and specifications for power generation equipment and systems.
• Design electrical power distribution, switchgear, MCCs, plant lighting, control systems, UPS, generators, and ATS.
• Coordinate installations and maintenance with utilities and other disciplines.
• Ensure designs comply with NFPA 70E/NEC, NFPA 497, NFPA 101, NESC, IEEE, and IBC.
• Provide troubleshooting support for plant electrical components and systems.
• Perform load flow analyses and electrical equipment evaluations.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a leading member of the power generation engineering team, you will design, build, and activate technically advanced power plants and generation infrastructure. As a lead engineer, you will lead a team designing, building, and maintaining electrical power systems that directly contribute to new power generation projects. You will be able to operate with autonomy to solve diverse and complex problems, excel at managing multiple projects simultaneously, and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will work with electrical, mechanical, controls, and other engineering disciplines, trade partners, and internal customers to support these goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead a team of engineers and work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines to provide detailed electrical design and specifications for the installation of the following equipment and systems:
• Electrical power distribution systems for power generation plants.
• Switchgear and motor control centers.
• Plant and yard lighting.
• Power plant control systems and ladder logic.
• Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units.
• Standby, emergency, and black-start generators.
• Automatic transfer switches.
• Power monitoring hardware and software.
• Plant communications, control network, and wiring.
• Plant and equipment grounding systems.
• Fire alarm systems and lightning protection systems.
• Provide electrical engineering support to power plant technicians and operators to troubleshoot existing electrical equipment and controllers.
• Provide engineering support for the design, operation, and troubleshooting of all power plant electrical components and systems, including:
• Load flow analysis of electrical power distribution systems.
• Electrical equipment evaluation.
• Plant and equipment grounding.
• Power monitoring hardware and software.
• Ensure that all equipment interfaces properly with other mechanical and electrical systems, including compatibility with plant power budgets.
• Coordinate all electrical installations and maintenance activities with local electrical utilities personnel.
• Ensure all electrical designs and installations conform to applicable codes and regulations.
• Provide code review and analysis utilizing NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 497, NFPA 101, NESC, IEEE, and IBC.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of professional experience working on electrical projects, power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS's, and/or generators.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• 3+ years of management experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in a similar role.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Experience with power plant or power generation electrical systems.
• Ability to read and understand power and control schematics.
• Ability to read and understand highly technical equipment operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals.
• Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and industrial pumps.
• Experience with controls in MODBUS communication.
• Experience with medium voltage distribution.
• Experience with control panel design and production.
• Working knowledge of power coordination and arc flash.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.
• High level of self-motivation, with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize and schedule workload.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
