Job Description Summary

Lead Electrical Engineer in Component Engineering for Electrical Hardware parts including Protective Relays, Control Relays/Contactors/Starters, SBM Switches, MC circuit breakers, switch boards, panel boards, overload relays/heaters, low and medium voltage circuit breakers, vacuum circuit breakers, disconnect switches, Temperature Elements, Thermowells, and other unique components used in electrical systems in Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) power plants for GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) customers.


Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities


  • Perform role of component engineering for electrical parts, executing and supporting technical evaluations and commercial grade dedication activities.

  • Demonstrates accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks.

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership, provide mentorship through verification and peer review activities.

  • Perform evaluations of analytical and experimental issues electrical parts dedication testing.

  • Support BWR multi-business new product development, obsolesces resolution research, and emergent power plant issues.

  • Support and perform technical analyses, evaluations, verifications, nonconformance reports NCR resolutions, deviation dispositions, and supplier quality audits.

  • Support GVH quality requirements defined in policies and procedures.

  • Establish productive working relationships with product and project management, support functions, and suppliers.

  • Support LEAN, continuous process improvement, and cost-out programs.


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited university or college.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in design requirements, specifications, documentation, etc. for heavy and/or high reliability industries such as nuclear, power, process, marine, oil & gas, military, etc.


Eligibility Requirements


  • The required work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC

  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.


Desired Characteristics


  • Knowledge of electrical parts procurement and commercial grade dedication process.

  • Experience with design and manufacturing process used for electrical components.

  • BWR Technology and Licensing

  • Experience with Qualification of 1E electrical equipment.

  • Experience with equipment qualification [environmental, seismic, embedded digital] testing to diverse industry standards [e.g., IEEE, IEC, ASME].

  • Clear thinker, detail oriented, insightful, quantitative, results oriented – Able to make reasoned, sound, and timely decisions.

  • Exceptional technical writing.

  • Strong verbal communication and facilitating skills for technical and business audiences.

  • Able and willing to take ownership and responsibility for scoping, planning, prioritizing, scheduling, budgeting, action tracking, monitoring, corrective actions, reporting, etc.

  • Team player with cross-discipline and matrixed functional skills and experience.

  • Able to handle multiple concurrent assignments and priorities.

  • Adaptive with continuous learning and improvement mindset with an ability to identify, influence, and implement better ways to do an activity or process.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.


Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
