Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company seeks a Lead Engineer for APX Fleet Design Management to guide fleet design strategy and standardization for the future AP1000 plant fleet. Based in Cranberry Township, PA, the role is hybrid with onsite work two days weekly and reports to the Senior Manager, APX Fleet Design Management.

You will define design strategies for NI/TI, maintain design baselines, and lead technical teams while mentoring staff and coordinating with partners, suppliers, and customers.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering and MS in Engineering are required or preferred.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering roles.
• Experience in a technical leadership role, either as a technical lead or project manager.
• Experience in AP1000 plant or new nuclear plant design is helpful.
• Experience across multiple engineering disciplines and process development/improvement is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define Design & Delivery Strategies for NI and TI, including standardization across suppliers.
• Define and maintain the design baseline and standard Index of Engineering Documents.
• Shape strategies for metrication and requirements management.
• Lead main technical teams, providing oversight and mentoring.
• Provide technical guidance and collaborate with partners, suppliers, fabricators, and customers.
• Identify and address technical risks and challenges to drive successful resolution.

About The Role

As Lead Engineer for APX Fleet Design Management, you will guide fleet design strategy and standardization for the future fleet of AP1000 plants under development.

You will report to the Senior Manager, APX Fleet Design Management and be located at our Cranberry Township, PA location. The position is hybrid; you will be onsite 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Define Design & Delivery Strategies. Develop strategies for Nuclear Island (NI) design and delivery. Develop strategies for Turbine Island (TI) design and delivery. These strategies will include standardization approaches for multiple suppliers. You will also involve adapting to different technical requirements, such as 50/60 Hz impacts.
• Define and maintain the design baseline and standard Index of Engineering Documents based on standard product definition
• Shape strategies for metrication and requirements management
• Lead main technical teams, providing oversight while delegating work and mentoring team members
• Provide technical guidance, direction, and collaborate with other personnel including partners suppliers, fabricators, and customers
• Identify and define technical risks and challenges, direct efforts to successful resolution

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $116,800 to $146,000 per year.
