Job summary

Emerus, a leader in small-format hospitals, seeks an Emergency Room Technician Lead Tech for Zarzamora. The role is full-time, day shift (7am-7pm), with travel between facility locations as required. You will support patient care by collecting data, drawing labs, and assisting with admissions and discharges.

Responsibilities include wound care, infection control, and maintaining a safe, private environment. Strong English communication and BLS required; EMT certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and related healthcare training.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS and PALS certification preferred.
• Fluency in English; strong communication skills.
• EMT-B/EMT-I/EMT-P or Medical Corpsman training with experience.
• 2+ years ER technician or hospital-equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Collect, report, and document clinical data including vital signs.
• Collect laboratory samples and perform tests per COLA/CLIA.
• Assist with patient activities and care per plan of care.
• Provide superficial wound care and ensure patient safety.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information.
• Provide and maintain a clean, safe environment and follow aseptic techniques.
• Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Travel to all facility locations as required.
• Lead Tech: help manage staff schedule and onboarding of new technicians.
• Lead Tech: assist with safety audits, supplies, and liaison with Linen.

Position Overview

The purpose of this position is to provide technical assistance and supportive patient care to meet the needs of individual patients throughout assigned areas.

Essential Job Functions

• Collect, report, and document clinical data. Take vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and collect specimens
• Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with established policies and procedures, as well as COLA and CLIA regulations
• Assist with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse/designee as indicated by the patient’s plan of care
• Provide for superficial wound care
• Provide for patient safety related to age and condition
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times
• Provide and maintain a clean, safe environment and perform and/or assist others to perform proper aseptic technique, isolation procedures, and infection control measures
• Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge of the patient
• Safe handling of food preparation for patients

Other Job Functions

• Prepare patients and chaperone during examinations/procedures or assists with other patient treatments
• Maintain patient care areas with appropriate supplies
• Assist with patient restraints and maintain precautions; collect, report and document data related to patient needs/emergencies and unusual patient and family behavior
• Travel to all facility locations as required
• Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required

Lead Tech responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining staff schedule and adequate staffing levels for the Emergency Technician and Patient Care Assistant roles within the assigned facility
• Assist Hospital Administrator with Patient Safety Audits
• Assist with the onboarding of new Emergency Room Technicians and Patient Care Assistants as needed
• Responsible for, in conjunction with Hospital Administrators and Market Leadership, ordering hospital/clinical supplies, receiving hospital/clinical supplies and maintaining ENVY system
• Responsible for, in conjunction with Hospital Administrators and Market Leadership, Supply, Purchase Order and Missed Items tracking
• Responsible for being the liaison between the facility and Linen agency

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and completion of one of the following:
  • Completion of Medical Corpsman program and one year of applicable experience (or)
  • Completion of EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-P course/program and one year of applicable experience (or)
  • Completion of the first year of education and current enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing and one year of applicable experience (or)
  • 2+ years of emergency room experience as an ER Technician or hospital equivalent experience
• Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS certification, preferred
• Experience with IV start, phlebotomy, and initiation of EKG, preferred
• Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communication
