Job summary

Castelion is seeking a Lead Embedded Software Engineer in Rio Rancho, NM, to define architecture and lead the development of mission-critical embedded software across the vehicle stack. You will mentor engineers, coordinate cross-functional efforts, and steer technical direction in a fast-moving hardware-software environment.

The role requires deep expertise in Linux-based embedded platforms, C++, and Rust, with prior leadership experience on complex systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, math, or a related STEM field.
• 7+ years of professional embedded software or real‑time systems experience.
• Proficiency in C++ and Rust; strong systems programming skills.
• Experience on Linux‑based embedded platforms, kernel‑level work or custom drivers.
• Experience leading technical projects or teams.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture and lead software design across embedded systems.
• Develop embedded software for Linux-based real-time platforms and validate with flight-testing.
• Collaborate with avionics, hardware, and simulation teams to align software with system requirements.
• Drive software integration, testing tooling, and root-cause analysis.
• Own major technical initiatives and ensure on-time delivery.
• Advance engineering standards through code reviews and testing discipline.
