Job summary

Tech Mirrors in Bethlehem, PA is seeking an Embedded Software Lead to drive the development of firmware for battery and energy management systems on STM32 platforms. This on-site, long-term role leads a cross-functional team across hardware, systems, cloud, and product management to deliver robust embedded solutions.

The ideal candidate has a BS with extensive experience in C/C++, RTOS, and low-level driver development, plus hands-on leadership and a track record of delivering reliable firmware

Qualifications

• BS degree with 9+ years in C/C++, STM32, ARM, RTOS/FreeRTOS, and bootloader development.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and functional safety; renewable energy/EV charging/UPS preferred.
• Cybersecurity implementation for industrial/energy systems and supporting product certification and regulatory audits preferred.
• Lead embedded software development team to BESS products and platforms.
• Develop firmware for battery/energy management systems, battery controllers, and power conversion.
• Define system architecture, firmware design strategy, coding and development, technical designs, source code, and validation.
• Design firmware using embedded C/C++ on STM32 microcontrollers.
• Develop low-level drivers, middleware, communication stacks, and application software.
• Board bring-up, peripheral integration, debugging, and optimization.
• Implement cell monitoring, balancing, thermal management, SOC/SOH algorithms, protection mechanisms, and fault handling.
• Cybersecurity standards applicable to energy storage systems.
• Experience with CAN/FD, Modbus RTU/TCP, UART/SPI/I2C/Ethernet.
• Support integration with Scada, EMS, cloud platforms, and monitoring systems.
• Define firmware verification and validation and support system testing.
• Ensure traceability, version control, and release.
