University of Tennessee, Knoxville seeks a Staff Microscopist to train and supervise users of the Electron Microscopy facilities, providing expertise in aberration-corrected TEM, EDS, EELS, SAED/CBED, and related techniques.

You will mentor students and post-docs, oversee instrument operations, and work with researchers on data interpretation and publications. Strong safety leadership and communication needed.

Competenze

• Master's degree in Materials Science or related field.
• Minimum three years' experience in a multi-user EM facility.
• In-depth knowledge of TEM/SEM/FIB techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Mansioni

• Train facility users one-on-one at TEM and SEM instruments and certify users for access.
• Support safety training and ensure compliance with safety programs.
• Mentor undergraduates, graduate students and post-docs in data acquisition and interpretation.
• Oversee instrument operations to ensure safe, effective use and best-practice microscopy.
• Collaborate with users on data generation, grant applications and publications.
• Perform maintenance and coordinate repairs with vendors; participate in outreach events.
